Be Prepared for Your Treatment:
When you arrive at the studio you will be asked to provide a brief personal health history. It is very important that your Massage Therapist be aware of any injuries or body pains that you have been experiencing.
You will be asked to disrobe down to your undergarments. We also suggest the removal of any loose jewelry.
We strongly suggest that you turn off or silence all mobile devices during your treatment.
We are very happy to offer a variety of massage techniques at Pilates and More. Massage of all kinds has been shown to aid in relieving muscle tension, alleviating muscle pain and stiffness, and increasing blood circulation throughout the body.
Massage is also known to reduce stress, promote relaxation, lower blood pressure and heart rate, enhance the immune system and energizes the body overall. It can also help accelerate post-operative rehabilitation as well as injury recovery.
Swedish Massage is one of the better known massage methods offered in the US. The therapist applies a combination of pressure techniques, such as long, kneading strokes, deep circular movements, and rhythmic tapping. The pressure may alter from gentle to heavy, depending on the goal of the massage. Target areas include muscles, tendons, ligaments, connective tissues, and joints.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It incorporate some similar techniques as Swedish massage, with slower movements and deeper pressure, as well as techniques such as myofascial release and trigger point therapy. Deep Tissue treatments often concentrated on more specific areas of tension and pain and are very helpful for chronic issues like back/neck pain, muscle spasms, sciatica and injury recovery.
